Ace Hardlight and Jenna: Surrender by Lurking-Leanne Ace Hardlight and Jenna: Surrender by Lurking-Leanne
Wow, about time I had a go at this scene, dont you think? :meow:

This is a part later in the story, and yes, they are on Vaelidius during one of the sunsets, not long before the pair and the remainer of the Seven Seekers go off on their most dangerous and most important mission yet...

This scene is very self-explainatory, so I'm not gonna bother with describing it further. Go read the damn story if you want to know when and how this part played out :p
All I'll say to newcomers, is that it definitely isn't rushed and this develops over a corse of time. I hate rushed & unrealistic romance, so yeah. And romance isn't even a huge part of my story anyways X3

***

Even my lil bro was like "I was wondering when you'd finally do them smooching!" XD first off, this is actually the first time I have ever drawn them kissing, at all.
And it wasn't easy. Since verpardi have oddly shaped heads/faces, I couldn't really reference this neither which means that I had to do it by myself. So yeah, the kiss pose probably isn't done right but I'll get better. This was just my first try anyway, it's not like I sit here all say sketching them making out all the time
And the overall pose was done from the head too. if you want to give any tips, then you can. I actually sketched this weeks ago though, and only just got around to painting it this week D:

And I also painted most of this too, in Sai :) so yeah, this is my first proper illustration done with the Wacom Intuos5. I'm definitely starting to get the hang of this painting style. In fact, I was almost going to delete the lineart on Ace and Jenna, since the painting underneath looked almost right without the lineart. But I chickened out and got impaitent XD

Oh and also, Paintshop Pro9 crashed like, 6 times when I was trying to apply a zoom blur effect to the background :eye: it was driving me mad! Luckily I always have backup saves of my art, and PSP9 does autosave too.
But it still got on my nerves XD I am beginning to move on from that program anyways... I'm using SAI a lot more now. But I still need PSP9 to do some special effects. I have PSP14... but I hardly use it.

And now, I have to go to work... =P I wonder what scene I can work on next... I think maybe this Ace and Leera one I have on mind.

Done in Paint Tool SAI & PaintshopPro9 with the Wacom Intuos5 Tablet Large.

Wow this turned out great! I love the powerful ligt the sunset casts at them through the window, it creates a great atmosphere along with the dark shadows!

Like your bro said "It's about time" :P
Really liking how you did this though. I can tell that your painting skills are improving more now, you really need to try making more use of that tablet, girl.l And I rekon the kiss pose came out good for a first timer with these two. Love the couple and love the artwork. Looking forward to seeing more.

Now THIS is how a romance scene at dusk should look like. :D :D :D The lighting is extremely fantastic! And did I hear you right when you said that what you do there is actually a motion blur? Never thought of using that on my stuff, I'm so dumb. :XD: I use screen then play hardball with the brush tool to painstakingly get it right, but your method beats mine a million times. The stuff like the curtains, the bed and the couch are also nicely done and well placed, despite being simple background objects. The sky is SO AMAZING. The combination of shapes and colors is almost hypnotizing. And of course, the two love birds in the middle look so romantic! I remember this scene from the story, and I like how Jenna eased Ace's nerves after he was "feeling bad about you know what."

Oh, I'll also give you a tip about kissing: tilt their heads a little bit more, and only start working on basic head shapes (more of the guidelines rather than drawing the head immediately) SEPARATELY, focusing on the mouths first, then simply move the two heads together if you think they look right, if not, undo and repeat. Once they do work out the rest of the face from the rough. That's what I do anyways, I don't post any pics of course. It's only practice since drawing kissing is SO hard to get, am I right? :XD:
